Hebrew Dictionary - Dict Box app good for
I use several Hebrew dictionaries in parallel, but this one is my favorite, since it gives you a lot of examples how to use the words. Often it is simply not enough, just knowing the translation, you want to see the word in a typical context - and that youll get in this app. Also, you can listen to how the words are pronounced. And youll also find expressions from everyday language, which you wont find in a strict scientific dictionary. Im happy I found this app!
Well done if better connected to even shoshan i would pay for it
Trying to learn just a couple of words a day. Its pretty simple to use. I like that you can actually write the Hebrew word (if you have the keyboard). It will find it and give you its pronunciation as well. Cool
For a Hebrew-English dictionary app, this is great and I use it all the time. This is so much better than Morfix.
Pros:
- Hebrew and English pronunciations for every word
- multiple sample sentences for each word, with voiced pronunciations for each sentence (English and Hebrew)
- "favorites" to save any English or Hebrew word and "history" folder to find recent searches
- much easier to use for English speakers
- search results from multiple dictionaries (including Hebrew dictionaries)
- there are also translated phrases
Cons:
- no vowels for the Hebrew words, but usually the Hebrew dictionary results below provide vowels or I just use the pronunciations
- Warning: not all the Hebrew word pronunciations are accurate, as it is a computerized voice
For the price of nothing, this is a very useful dictionary.
I love this dictionary because it gives you the definition of the word plus a sentence for example! You can also hear how to pronounce the word. The best part is that you can save words you translated and the app sends you notification every day to remand you (optional). I have learned so many words this way!!
This app pronounces the Hebrew word, gives the part of speech, gender and uses the word in sentences. I love it and use it often. Saves sooo much time in searching for words in a regular Hebrew dictionary.
Some bad moments
This app is useless. Wrong translations and mostly no audio files for the word you are looking up.
It needs less phrases and more technical staff like transciption in Latin letters.
It is advertised for 4.99 if you want to get rid of adds, but your card will be charged 11.99. The app is incapable of translating phrases of two or more words, and it does a very poor job with single words. DO NOT BUY IT.
I got it as a supplement to the Lingvosoft dictionary. It doesnt feel as polished, but it seems to have a broader and deeper lexicon. I like it that the program notices which keyboard is active and selects its lookup direction accordingly. I wish the culinary lexicon were bidirectional, and wish to point out that I have seen the word for parsley spelled "פטרוזיליה" with a zayin rather than a samech. The thing that holds me back from a 5 star rating, mainly is the lack of polish - in particular that string escape characters - " - show up in the definitions.
I use this app all the time. It doesnt have every word I want, and I wish it would link to an online Hebrew-English dictionary, but for general daily use on the street in Israel its great.
I enjoy using it, it works very well and has proven itself very helpful.
